Ionquest® is Italmatch Advanced Water Solutions Phosphorus-based range for mining and mineral processing applications. In hydrometallurgical operations, solvent extraction in one of the more common separation techniques as it frequently appears to be the ideal method of separating trace constituents from large amounts of other substances.

Solvent extraction is the distribution of a solute (or solutes) between two immiscible liquids or phases. Solvent extraction usually takes place with aqueous and organic solutions or phases. The aqueous phase generally consists of a solute (or solutes), contaminating compounds, and acids dissolved in water. The organic phase typically consists of a diluent and the extractant. Italmatch offers a range of innovative phosphorous-based extractants to effectively separate Nickel from Cobalt, Rare Earths, Uranium, Zinc, and various other metals in industrial mining operations or recover a wide range of critical metals from lithium-ion battery recycling industries.

Also, as an alternative to liquid/liquid extraction such as carried out with Ionquest® SX reagents, in mining and refining solid-liquid extraction is also very common. This is especially suited for difficult extraction, where the concentration of the target metal is relatively low. Our current range of scavenging resins is targeting the Platinum Group Metals (PGM). Italmatch provides an innovative and patented phosphorous-based microporous resin technology for the selective removal of transition metals from industrial waste and process waters. By selectively recovering the metal content, our clients obtain a net economic advantage.

Lumiclene® is Italmatch Advanced Water Solutions new series of enhanced smart-tagged polymers, specifically designed and developed to provide superior performance as scale inhibitors and dispersants for Industrial Water Treatment applications, in both open recirculating and closed cooling systems.

Lumiclene® line currently consists of two solutions:

  • Lumiclene® 2101 – solution designed to provide superior antiscalant and dispersing performance for CaCO3 and CaSO4
  • Lumiclene® 2102 – developed to offer superior performance as scale inhibitor and dispersant for Ca3(PO4)2, Iron Oxide and Silica

Lumiclene® products have fluorescent properties which can be easily detected with a dedicated online probe or portable fluorometer instruments commonly available in the market.

Unlike already-existing products, such as PTSA, Lumiclene® is a real time monitoring polymer, allowing to determine the real concentration of the polymer present in water in actual time–direct approach.

Lumiclene® shows no interferences in which may contain Belclene® polymers, Dequest® phosphonates, steel and yellow metals corrosion inhibitor. It is also stable in presence of both oxidizing agents and non–oxidizing biocides commonly applied in industrial open recirculating and closed cooling systems, such as Bellacide 355 (TTPC), Isothiazolone, DBNPA and Mayosperse 7700 (Poly-Qua).

Masteret® is the trade name for Red Phosphorus Masterbatches (NOT flammable and NOT ADR-regulated). Masteret® was first introduced by Italmatch Chemicals in 1996 and gave the engineering plastic industry a boost in the field of high-level flame retardancy technology. Stabilized and encapsulated Red Phosphorus is today available in a variety of carriers and formulations. Solid polymers based Masteret® are available on PA6, LDPE, EVA. Liquid based Masteret® are available in water, liquid phosphate, epoxy and castor oil. Main applications for solid Masteret® are PA66 GFR, EVA, PP, PE and rubbers compounds. Main applications for liquid Masteret® are acrylic latex, epoxy, PU, phenolic and PVC (Antimony trioxide replacement).

Mayoquest® is a cost-effective family of phosphonate scale inhibitors, manufactured in USA for the regional market. These products prevent common mineral scales (calcium carbonate, sulfate and barium salts) in a variety of water systems.

Melagard® is the trade name for Melamine based FR, Melagard MC (Melamine Cyanurate),  Melagard MP (Melamine Phosphate) and Melagard Intumescent preparations as Melagard P37. Main applications for Melagard MC are PA6/PA66 and TPU compounds. Main application for Melagard MP is adhesive. Main applications for Melagard P37 Intumescent preparations are PP, PE, TPO, TPV and SBS compounds.

Phoslite® is the trade name for Hypophosphite based Flame Retardants synergistic preparation. Phoslite® was first introduced by Italmatch in 2006 giving to Flame Retardant producers a new reference product also in terms of UV performances and halogen content. A Family of Phoslite® grades is today available for halogen free or low halogen thermoplastics, rubbers and engineering polymers, but also as Antimony trioxide replacement. Main applications for Phoslite® are PP, PC, TPU and special formulations for PA6 GF & PBT GF.

A wide range of products focussed on the water based and oil/synthetic metalworking space and allied industries. Qualifloc® brand is Italmatch Chemicals Advanced Water Solutions product of choice for influent water and waste water treatment. Qualifloc® solutions are high molecular weight polycrylamide anionic/cationic polymers, water in oil emulsion, specifically designed to promote quick solid/liquid phases separation in waste water treatment, process water and sludge dewatering applications.

Qualipol® from Italmatch Chemicals Advanced Water Solutions are water-based Polymers (medium and high molecular weight coagulants) for Industrial process applications. Our organic coagulants compete against inorganic coagulants thanks to their higher performances, broader operating pH range, lower sludge formation and their no impact on final stream pH.

Sper Sal® from Italmatch Chemicals Advanced Water Solutions is a product line for soil management applications, specifically developed to maximize the soluble minerals content in the irrigation water and soil. Sper Sal® is also used to dissociate the fixed Calcium and Phosphate from the soil to reduce its salinity, sodicity, alkalinity, Ca and P deficiency, soil compaction and improve the water infiltration.

SugarMaxx® is Italmatch Chemicals Advanced Water Solutions brand line for sugar cane processing applications. It is designed to work on color reduction of the sugar cane/beat thin juice by inhibiting the enzymatic process. SugarMaxx® products can be added directly to the decanted juicy or syrup, based on the technical needs of the process. They also allow production efficiency increase and synergistically work as scale inhibitors along the sugar manufacturing process, expecially in the evaporation system and decrease syrup viscosity.

Turpinal® products are high purity grades of etidronic acid and sodium etidronate which are suitable for use in cosmetics and Personal Care or any applications requiring a very low metal content. The high purity of these products is guaranteed by thorough quality control procedures (including testing for microbiological contamination). Moreover, the certificate of analysis accompanying each batch contains detailed information covering chemical purity and trace metal content. Their chelating properties make them outstanding candidates for the chelation of metal ions, in particular the transition metals (Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn) and the water hardness ions (Ca, Mg). Thanks to the chelating properties and threshold effect, and added to its chemical stability in oxidizing environment, Turpinal® can bring substantial benefits in many application fields and more specifically in the cosmetics industry.

These products are ideal chelants or additives in the following applications:

  • In the stabilization of peroxide bonds, in alkaline media specifically
  • As a chelant in hair cosmetics containing mercaptan groups, i.e. thioglycolic acid, thiolactic acid
  • As a means of limiting hair damage caused by bleaching or colouring
  • In the stabilization of bar soaps, where Turpinal® is used as antioxidant and prevents discolouration and rancidity, in particular under the influence of day light
  • In the stabilization of fragrances, which would otherwise lose their strength over time during storage of cosmetic formulations.
